Election Day is November 4, 2008. This may be the most important day for union members in decades. As we have been facing losses of pensions and health insurance, it is clear that we need representation by people who understand the needs of the average workers; Our need to make a decent wage for a hard days work so that we can pay our mortgages, loans, utility bills and help our children go to college. We need more jobs for our aging children so that with or without college they can be productive members of society and raise their families with dignity and purpose. As we age and seek to retire from a lifetime of work we need retirement income and health insurance. We need leaders that know that the workers are better off when they are represented by a union, not at the whim of their employers. Workers rights have been eroded substantially over the last 8 years and with that has come a loss of wages and benefits. That is why I am voting for the OPEIU endorsed candidate.
